The Women's and LGBTQIA+ Center presents:

Pride Movie Week

Featured film: Moonlight

  • From Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 23
  • Online event

The Women's and LGBTQIA+ Center invites you to grab your popcorn and gather at your convenience to watch and enjoy the award-winning film, "Moonlight," a movie following the story of a young African-American man grappling with his identity and sexuality while experiencing the everyday struggles of childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood while navigating through poverty and the crack epidemic in Miami. The film presents three stages in the life of the main character: his childhood, adolescence, and early adult life. It explores the difficulties he faces with his sexuality and identity, including the physical and emotional abuse he endures growing up.

"Moonlight" is available to screen on Kanopy from June 19 to June 23. The Women's and LGBTQIA+ Center is also hosting a virtual film discussion on June 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom (registration required). Participants could win a prize!
