To whom it may concern,
I am a telecommunications technician with more than 20 years of experience. I have worked in virtually every phase of the business, from equipment installation to remote circuit testing. The bulk of my experience is with transmission systems, but includes some limited experience with Nortel DMS-500 and DSC DEX-400 and -600 switches. I am intelligent, learn quickly, and work well without supervision. I enjoy a technical challenge. I hold a number of technical certificates, including Nortel OC-48 and Hekimian REACT-2001.
My career as an installer, and has had a strong emphasis on RF transmission systems: voice, data, and television, and some outside plant. Probably more applicable to your needs, I’ve also “specialized” in CO/POP (DCS, switch, optical transport – SONET and linear—and ancillary equipment such as generators and DC plant) and network operations (surveillance, provisioning, circuit testing, and troubleshooting). I also have some experience with installing customer prem equipment such as PBX/keysets, CSU/DSUs, VINA, and Nortel AccessNode. I am computer literate, with experience with most versions of MS Windows (except Vista), several Linux distributions, and assorted UNIX variants. I have set up a few networks over the years. I have maintained my technical tech library, and kept up with recent developments in the field.
I have been out of the industry for a while. A few years ago, I thought that my writing and sideline had reached the point where I could semi-retire and carry on in the literary world. I achieved a fair measure of critical success, but less financial success, publishing a well-received science fiction novel, as well as numerous short stories and articles. But with downsizing in progress, I was unable to get back into telecomm; I have been working several other areas to get by, including small telephone and cable installation jobs. I am currently working as a quality control tester of ultrasonic transducers, and marine speed and temperature sensors.
I currently live in New Hampshire, but I am willing to move. I am available immediately.
Recruiters should note that, due to the state's taxes, cost of living, and such, I am not interested in Massachusetts-based positions.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you, either by phone, email, or post.
Sincerely,
Carl W. Bussjaeger
