DVD Review: "Symbols of an Alien Sky"
Cover Art - Symbols

By Carl Bussjaeger, October 21, 2009

I have in recent years become aware of an idea that has actually been around for three decades. I suspect I missed it before because likewise, until relatively recently, my scientific education had been mainstream and traditional. This idea, the Saturn "Polar Configuration" theory is neither.

Which is a shame. But the documentary series, "Symbols of an Alien Sky" clearly aims to change that.

The hypthesis which is the basis of "Symbols" is that within human history, our planet Earth has been in a closer physical relationship with Saturn than the currently observed orbits. David Talbott, who wrote and narrated "Symbols" thinks that proof for this idea can be found in comparative mythology, archeology, and modern plasma physics laboratories.

Episode one of "Symbols" is a more detailed introduction to these remarkable ideas. It is geared to a nontechnical general audience, presenting straight forward comparisons between imagery from the ancient past and plasma lab displays. As an added bonus, this also gives the viewer a brief exposure to Electric Universe theory.

I did not find the general examples and explanations in this introduction strictly compelling. I would like to see far more specific examples, and more experimental work on the topic. But even so, the ideas are intriguing; and after all, this is only part one, the introduction.

"Symbols of an Alien Sky" is an enjoyable introduction to some distinctly mind-stretching concepts. Even if you find the Saturn configuration difficult to accept, you will still come away with fascinating facts about mythology and plasma physics, in one handy package.
